Why we love it: A nice medium roast for Mantiqueira Red accentuates its chocolate notes, and still allows its delicate nuttiness to shine, too. Great as an everyday French press/batch brew or espresso drink.
Who it comes from: Small Producer, family owned farms in the Mantiqueira de Minas region within the state Minas Gerais, Brazil. These small producers are organized through co-ops that in the region to bring their coffee to the international market.
Why it matters: This collective of small producers is distinct in Brazil where lots often come from larger estates that use highly mechanized processing strategies to manage larger volumes. Together, the small producers are able to obtain Fair Trade certification with rigorous attention to quality of coffee and quality of life!
